I’m watching this French film called “Incendies” and I just needed to document the moment I just experienced… the daughter leaves Canada to visit her late mother’s old village somewhere in the Middle East. She tries to converse with the women there and, seconds later, finds herself at the heart of a heated argument in a language she doesn’t even understand. I won’t get into specifics, but it was one of the most perfectly beautiful uses of metaphor/symbolism that I’ve ever seen on film. I immediately jumped out of my seat with tears of excitement. Yes, that really just happened. Check out the film to find out why that moment was SOOOOO significant… I gotta go finish watching it now. Peace.
